Jah Wise -- one of the world's greatest record collectors and one of the true FOUNDATION sound men alive. He grew up in Western Kingston with his siblings, the great singer CORNELL CAMPBELL and their sister, Studio One Diva, CECILLE CAMPBELL. Jah Wise starting selecting for Tippa Tone Sound in the 60s gaining fame for both his selecting ability and his painting which was featured in the ROCKERS movie. Jah Wise moved to NYC in the 80s and brought with him the first ever dub plates to use the "Get a Lick" riddim which became Shine Head's great BILLIE JEAN riddim. He has since become a fixture in the US reggae community bigging up TIPPA TONE Hi Fi for the world!
Dexter Campbell -- fondly known the world over as the SKA PROFESSOR -- has been selecting music since the 1960s and is known for his in depth knowledge of the sounds of Ska and Rock Steady. In the 1970s Dexter formed Echo Vibration Sounds with his friend, the late great DeeJay, GENERAL ECHO. The two were based in Montego Bay and clashed all over the island. Tapes of those clashes are legendary and beloved by sound system aficionados the world over. Last December we held an event called DIGIKAL WE DIGIKAL where DEADLY DRAGON was joined by the great Digital English and SCREECHY DAN, DEVON CLARKE, CARL MEEKS, KNIGHT RIDER all performed. As the night progressed K VIBES and MARSHALL ONE joined the session. Through a terrible storm we dropped riddim after riddim and rode the storm out! It was a wicked evening and here is the recording of the STAR TIME when all the performers jumped pon the Mic! Enjoy!
