On October 1st, we had the absolute pleasure and honor of taking part in Stranger Cole & Patsy's first ever live show in New York. The event was put on by the Dig Deeper people and it was everything a great show should be. The venue was warm and intimate and the crowd were pure music lovers -- no pretense at all. In fact the entire endevour was drenched in good feelings as these these two legends got the recognition and love (and hopefully some $$$!!!) that they deserve. Stranger had more energy than a damn 20 year old and we had a great time watching them sing some of their best known and obscure tunes and, we have to admit, we got a bit teared up watching the tenderness the two had for each other when singing "When You Call My Name." The band -- Crazy Baldhead -- did an amazing job backing them up and we were joined by our friends Doug and Simon and Bunny Punch in throwing down some SERIOUS tunes before and after the show.
The world needs more shows like these that focus on vibes, artists and music rather than money and ego. Big Up to Stranger and Patsy and Big Up and thanks to Dig Deeper for a great show and inviting us to play.
Here's a video of Stranger rocking Bangarang, Rough & Tuff and Artibella!
And here is Stranger and Patsy doing Fire Fire, Down The Train Line and When You Call My Name
