Milton Henry.

Besides being one of the most positive and easy-going guys inna the business, the singer, Milton Henry is a living repository for the history of Jamaican music from the days of Rock-Steady to early reggae to the deep roots of New York's Bullwackies studio. What hasn't Milton Henry done? Well, let's review: In the 60s he was a member of the great RockSteady gorup THE LEADERS with Prince Alla, he then was in the Progressions and finally with The Emotions with Max Romeo and Audley Rollins. He then played guitar with the Hippy Boys as well as cutting the PHENOMENAL roots single THIS WORLD under the name King Medious. Along the way he moved to New York and linked with the Bullwackies camp and cut a great solo album with them as well as singing back up for the Congos and Meditations. Other than that the man has produced music, owned a record label, toured the world, ran record stores and has remained a vital force in Jamaican music. Nuff Respect to Milton Henry!

U Roy.

U Roy -- All praises to the man U Roy. He is the originator of what we have come to think of as a Dee Jay. Although not the first to "chat" upon the Mic, U Roy took the intro and chat styles of the earliest sound system DJs, and transformed them with his style and lyrical gift into songs in of themselves. With U Roy leading the way in the 1970s, DJs went from being pitchmen for the singers, to their equals and beyond. With hundreds of tunes to his credit and still active touring career, U Roy has remained an inspiration and a fixture in reggae music -- the true bridge between the past and future of the music we all love.

The Meditations.

Nuff respect to the Meditations! From the 70s to now the core of Ansel, Danny and Watson have created some of reggae music's most enduring hits. By combining the harmonies and soulful vocals they learned in the rocksteady era as members of The Linkers and The Flames with the more aggressive sounds of Channel One and Lee Perry's Black Ark they revolutionized what a vocal group could sound like. From party classics like "Woman Is A Shadow" to the deep roots of "Think So", the music of the Meditations will always live on!
